I included a screenshot below so you can see what my complaint is. If you mistype Swensonfunnies with an "S" or other spelling error you get an ad page popping up in the search engines without any mention to my original site. I'm all for advertising as it helps support this site but I am increasingly finding these kinds of ad pages offensive because they do not create any sort of content on their site. They are getting a free ride off of the hard work put into this site. I'm sure other webmasters who enjoy hosting content for visitors will agree. And I'm sure if you're a visitor who has wasted their time going to these pages without finding anything worthwhile but ads will also agree.
Updating websites and creating content, regardless of advancements in content management, involves a lot of time and effort. Simply putting up an ad page with a bunch of ad links is lazy and should not be rewarded with search engine placement. I'm hoping this page will now pop up right under these jerks to steer visitors to the right location.
It's not even that these guys bought up an expired domain or some other often used tactic. They created a new domain to mirror my own. And I'm just a little guy who loves to entertain people. I'm hoping that more ways will be found to reward content creators and cut the bottom feeders out of the game. |
