ROCKSTAR JUICED: ENERGY GUAVA
Energy Drink Review By Cartoonist Jeff Swenson
I'm getting into the Juiced Energy Drinks and Rockstar's Guava entry is one of the better ones.

Rockstar juiced guava

COMPANY: Rockstar Inc, Las Vegas, NV
CAN DESIGN:
Well, the background on the can design is appropriate since it reminds you of juice, however why did they keep their Rockstar text in black? Black on a purplish background doesn't show very well. I even thought the name of this drink was "Juiced" until I saw the Rockstar gold logo beneath it.
And what's with the "American Made" flag in the lower right? Honestly, who the fuck cares? I'm not sure Guava is even native to the United States, just cultivated here.
I love living in the USA but I'm sorry, the American Made ideology is rooted in myth. Businesses and jobs are created by overseas work just as much as they also take away jobs with competition. That's the free market at work. You can't function in a vacuum when there's worldwide competition.
And on the side of the can you'll see Rockstar listing how many countries they sell to. Gee, do you think they keep the American Flag on the can when they sell to Hong Kong or Paris--you know how much the French love Americana. So really what this American Made stamp is is a marketing trick. I just don't see the point. We're not talking automobile manufacturing jobs here. Food products and drink products come from all over the world--are we really going to start caring if something is American Made? And even if it was made in America, was the guava picked by legal Americans or illegal help from across the border. Hmm?
CAN DETAILS: 16 FL OZ, 240 Calories
PRICE: 1.99 at Albertson's
WEBSITE: www.Rockstar69.com . I wonder why they include "69" in their domain name--could it be a sexual position that rockstars, as well as the rest of us, like? Achem. The sad part though is there's nothing sexy about their site.
I've made comments about their site in other reviews. There doesn't look like there's anything new that's been added except maybe some news from some of their sponsored events. This is usually the problem with energy drink sites. They don't see any benefit in adding regular content. The Rockstar site doesn't even have the usual wallpapers.
TASTE: This is a good juiced drink but I might be biased since I like guava. That doesn't mean they still couldn't have screwed it up.
I think guava is the right fruit to mix into an energy drink to begin with. It's not an odd taste, it's very natural--if you can get away with saying that about a drink category that is very unnatural.
AFTERTASTE: Almost a little like drinking a sugar substitute. Which is odd because it isn't a sugar-free drink, it just reminds me of a sugar-free aftertaste.
SUSTAINED EFFECTS: Nothing noticeable. Juiced drinks are more mild on the stomach than the all out assault of drinks like Monster or Full Throttle.
OVERALL: Can design needs some work, site is pretty blah, but the drink itself is a winner.
WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? Yes.

GENERAL COMMENTS: Rockstar's Juiced line I think is superior to most of the competition. So far I prefer it over Wired X's line.
