UNKNOWN CELEBS PRESENTS: Mark Holton
One of the funniest eighties movie faces even though he wasn't in the funniest of films.
I don't think so PEE WEE
I was in Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf Too
Once you see Mark Holton your mind goes: Where do I know that guy from? He has one of those faces you can't forget because his face was made for the movies; cartoonish and wonderfully distinct for memorable characterization. From bad guys to teen losers to the mentally challenged facing off with short-gold-grubbing-guys-in-green, Holton has made a living off of acting behind the bigger stars including Paul Reubens, Michael J Fox and Jennifer Aniston. But to hell with those big stars. Maybe Mark Holton is an unknown celeb but at least he's stayed in the game and continued to work in one of the toughest industries there is.

IDENTIFYING FILM ROLES:

PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE -- Holton appearing as the snobbish Francis Buxton should have led him to better roles if anyone had recognized that this face had more potential. Pee Wee's movie would have been lacking without this oversized spoiled brat to give the storyline a boost in the beginning.

TEEN WOLF and TEEN WOLF TOO -- I cannot recommend these films except to see Holton's rubbery face show determination in the sports of basketball and boxing. It would have been nice to see Mark get a better defining role as Chubby in both of these pictures. Didn't anyone understand that Chubby could have gotten more laughs than oh so cool Michael J Fox. But then I don't know if you can even count these as comedies. They're more like family films with a few dirty words. Not too many laughs. I must admit I have seen Teen Wolf more than once but it's because I saw it as a kid and I love watching old eighties films even if they are horrible. Teen Wolf Too is completely horrible, the only thing that saves it are some of the cute girls that remind you of the ones you fantasized about way back when.

LEPRECHAUN -- I like the Leprechaun series and the first one was the best. You'll never get to see a huge star like Jennifer Aniston ever again in a B-movie horror flick. There's not too many laughs for Holton again as he plays his character straight, an autistic friend of the kid Alex, and is terrorized by the gold hoarding munchkin along with the others.

GACY -- I have not seen this film but I'd like too. Gacy of course is inspiration for Captain Spaulding in The Devil's Rejects and a quality film about the true events of this evil serial killer's life would be fascinating. From the reviews I've read it doesn't sound too good and I would suspect it was a quickly made straight to video exploitation film. Too bad. But maybe Holton will still make it worth watching.

Mark Holton has appeared in numerous other films and TV roles, always the guy in the crowd or a supporting player. My hats off to him as he keeps at the craft. The masses may not understand unless you're being handed oscars (often for bullshit reasons) but I do. Keep with it, Mark. There's nothing wrong with B-movie roles when there's so many pretty assholes taking the good roles.
